All our Ofsted reports have been excellent. Our most recent Inspections say:

STAFF

Kiddington Kindergarten provides good quality care for children. The Staff are well qualified and experienced in early years work and this is reflected in the efficient organisation of the nursery. The staff work effectively as a team and are aware of their duties within the daily routine. Six staff work with the children all of whom have a current First Aid certificates. Staff have a good understanding of safety issues and conduct risk assessments and regular fire practices. They are secure in their knowledge of child protection issues. Staff support the children well, with regular observations used to plan the next steps. There is a good balance between free play and more structured group times. The staff attend well to children’s needs and encourage participation in activities irrespective of age, ability or gender. There are high expectations for good behaviour and the children respond well to consistent guidelines offered by the adults. Senior Staff have relevant training and experience in providing appropriate support to children with special needs.

THE SETTING

The Nursery environment is welcoming to children, with eye-catching displays and tempting areas of interest. Good use is made of the accommodation to provide many child-centred activities. Staff ensure variety from the large bank of resources and the children are able to access items independently. The stimulating environment includes an excellent range of play and learning opportunities available to the children both inside and outside.

PARENTS

The information provided to parents is very good. They are able to access details about current activities and the children are encouraged to bring items from home to add to interest tables. Past activities are attractively displayed with photographs and captions. Staff and parents form strong links to ensure that children’s individual needs are met and to encourage parental contribution to their child’s learning.

WHAT IS BEING DONE WELL

Reading continues to be a key strength and children begin to read simple words in books.

The support given by staff to the children’s development is very good. The activities are well planned and ensure that children’s learning is reinforced in different areas, for example making boats from recycled materials and playing imaginative pirate games during the theme of transport.

There is a positive attitude in the nursery to promoting equal opportunities. The children have a wide range of resources, which provide them with positive of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Stories are used to introduce new experiences, like tasting chapatti bread.

The access to the nursery is carefully monitored, with diligent use of a visitor’s book and protection of children from unvetted persons.

The information provided to parents is very good.

Children’s individual and special needs and abilities are well met.

The learning environment is well organised to encourage independence.

OUTCOME

The provision is acceptable and is of high quality. Children are making very good progress towards the early learning goals
